Biography

'Hayashi will make you dance while breaking your heart, as the walls run with sweat.' (Sandman Magazine) Hayashi are a live band with a reputation for playing high energy sets influenced by drum and bass, jungle, breakbeat, hip-hop, electronica and dub-step. Jaw dropping drumming alongside big bass grooves with beautifully crafted keyboard and synth parts provide the foundation for spitfire lyrical front and melodious vocal hooks which combine to give Hayashi their particular sound. Hayashi have appeared at the Leeds Carling Festival and with Pendulum, Skream and Prime Cuts (Scratch Perverts).

Based in Leeds, Hayashi are a live band with a reputation for playing high energy sets, which get the crowd jumping every time. Influenced mainly by drum and bass, breakbeat and jungle, with a touch of hip-hop, electronica and dub-step, it is a live dance experience.
Gideon Woods and Ben Coleman as a Drummer, Bassist and production team, started Hayashi as a studio project in 2000, and since then this partnership has developed.
A chance encounter led to the addition of Leeds based pianist/composer/producer Stefanos Andreas Efthimiou (SAE Industries) in 2011, and this collaboration has taken the Hayashi sound to a whole new level, which we cannot wait to share with you.
With 'the phattest rhythm section since Sly & Robbie' (Oovamatique CeltIslam/Bluefoot Project), the Hayashi sound comprises jaw dropping d'n'b/jungle drumming and big bass grooves complemented by melodies that are lush and dirty in equal measure, providing the solid sound foundation for the awesome talents of Hayashi's front ladies, D3 and Miss Fanny Adams who spit lyrical fire and beautiful melody hooks, pushing every audience to move with them.
