Polymorphic Light Eruption

By The Caves

The Caves second single release is an altogether rather jolly pleasant affair and is the kind of thing you'd put on the stereo to jump around to in a "Look I'm daft, me" manner to impress your embarrassed long suffering friends. It's silly, has little lyrical or musical depth and the record's title does summarise quite nicely the overall feel of this 2 song CD. The tracks are very upbeat well-constructed pop tunes that sound like The Vines or The White Stripes would do if they didn't have the touches of depression or darkness dotted about. "We're all part of the great light spectrum"... well, yep, I suppose?! Pop music doesn't have to always be all meaningful and stuff (a little doesn't go amiss) but if you don't mind that then I'd give these Welsh boys a closer inspection.
