A lot of people will love Scout. I know my mum does. They're a cracking band, very talented with strong arrangements and a singer who sounds like Andrea Corr but so much better. So why is it that I just find them a little bit dull?
The music is nice and happy 'the sun's out so let's sit in the park' type stuff and I think that's my problem. Play the CD in your garden when you're next having a BBQ and it'll go down a treat with your friends and family but unfortunately it just doesn't grab me. You can't look to Scout to change your life but for perfect background music to a dinner party you couldn't go wrong.
It's very jazzy-pop. If the Cardigans and The Corrs formed a supergroup and played 'Midnight At The Oasis' they'd sound a lot like Scout.
If they ever play at The Wardrobe go see them. If you're ever chilling on a Sunday then put them on the player. But if you want something with that extra ingredient, that something really special that makes you scream "Yes!" then search for something else.
Good band, very good band in fact. It's just a shame that you've heard it all before. Probably at one of your mum's dinner parties.
