After recruiting ex-Fangs bassist Sarah Fox, I wanted to see what JJ72 had come up with in their long absence. I remember back to the days of October Swimmer and Snow; there was always something about JJ72 that I always liked so bloody much! I don't know what it was but it was there in their music and always infected my head and had me whistling their melodies from day to day.
So here it is, the newest release from a new line-up called "Shes Gone", a discotastic indie-pop tune with a psychedelic 80's feel to it. In parts Mark Greaney's falsetto voice reminds me of Wes from Mama Scuba which can never be a bad thing!
To be honest this single hasn't blown me away in anyway but it's still a damn good tune and a highly produced pop song from these Irish lads (...and lass sorry!) and it can easily be one of their best songs, it's full of energy, emotion, swooping guitars, subtle keyboards and drums that are as tight as a camel's backside in a sandstorm!
This is indie but not as you know it, this is the sort of indie music that gives the genre a good name. All I can say is I can't wait for a new album!
