By The Ga Gas
A bold effort from The Ga Gas here; their melodic rock sound has certainly set them in line to be pretty big up and coming. This EP is two songs filled with soul, feeling and basic good sounding rock music. First song Crash and Burn is tale of love lost as far as I can make out, and the singer's voice is fantastic complete with some sweet as sugar backing vocals to compliment. It's one of those songs that you listen to and you know it's very carefully done, it's well produced and has that radio friendly vibe, but there is that commercialism that catches your ear then you realise how good a song this is. Kind of reminds me of a heavier Del Amitri, but maybe I'm wrong!
Second song Sex is an acoustic corker of a pop rock song. Some real good chords being strummed out of the sweet acoustic guitar that jangles its way through the song and again some great vocal harmonies, this guy sings with his heart and soul.
It's not groundbreaking particularly but it's got all the ingredients to be a damn good effort at a well polished little pop rock CD that can be appreciated by most audiences.
