Sammy USA are best known as the band that were to later become Duels. The Leeds-based five-piece released one 7" single on Fierce Panda, featuring 'Doorway of a Dancehall' backed with 'Being Beaten'. In 2003, Kaiser Chiefs were to play their first post-Parva gig as a Sammy USA support act.
The band deservedly garnered attention for their catchy indie-pop, but poor label choices left them restricted. A name-change followed in late 2004, along with the old songs being replaced by shiny new ones and the band signing a new record deal as Duels.
