Give Me Your Love

By Reef

The West Country boys are back with a new 'Best Of' album including 5 new songs. This is the first of them and as the funky guitar and strong bass kicks in it's instantly recognisable as Reef, although it sounds slicker than anything we've heard from them before.

Then the vocals join in and throw you a curveball. Rather than Gary Stringer's raucous rasp we get breathy, almost whispered vocals that give the track an almost Stone Roses aura to it.

When we get to the chorus though we're in familiar territory "Gimme Your Love, Gimme Your Love, Gimme Your Love" comes that old howl, resplendent with it's "Oh Yeah's!!!". It's a killer guitar/bass riff that provides the bones of the whole thing and a fine middle eight breaks the song up nicely before the chorus returns.

The boys are back and sounding as good as ever, perhaps sounding more like their debut "Replenish" than at anytime since their initial release. Fans will love it and so may you. A sure fire booty shaker at their upcoming gigs.

The dance remix of 'Place Your Hands' is pretty woeful though.
