By Hot Hot Heat
"Bandages, bandages, bandages, bandages, bandages, bandages, bandages" Yes, that's Hot Hot Heat, and that's what you can expect from the album. 10 songs in 30 minutes, none not a chorus or reggae breakdown too long. It starts with a great little tune with a dark overtone called "Naked In The City Again," it has sparkly bits and glides you in to the album nicely.
Song 2 (No, Not Now)'s nice but it's just a lead in for the centre piece of the album - "Get In Or Get Out", "Bandages" and "Oh Goddamnit," any of which would have your feet taping and head nodding at your local discotheque. You've all heard Bandages, but Get In... as the rockier one, and Oh Godamnit is the chilled, yet rocky one where the band perfect that dodgy one where the band perfect their offbeat upstrokes.
After this the album, goes slightly into background noise, all the songs have that perfect Hot Hot Heat, jagerdy guitars and creative songwriting. The uplifting chorus in "This Town" and the mysterious ending with "In Cairo" is lovely. The fact that none of the songs leave up to the centre piece is a lack of incredible hooks, but if you're only gonna get that by repeating the song title ad finitum, what ya gonna do? This one of the most enjoyable album's as whole I've listened to for ages, puts me in a similar mood to listening to "This Is It"....
