Machine Parts
By Fighting With Wire
Fighting With Wire are Derry's answer to the Foo Fighters. "Machine Parts" could easily figure on any Foo's album, rocking as it does with the same vigour and borrowing massively from the Grohl melody bank. Not a bad thing as long as you can remember it is FWW you are listening too. Try this trick again with "Contemplating Someone Else" which this time pays huge homage to In Utero era Nirvana. It's all good guitar churning stuff but the feeling of listening to a Seattle tribute band and not some talented Derry lads showing what they've got can be a bit distracting. Ok everyone has their influences, but there is wearing them on your sleeve and then wearing them as hat made entirely from a neon sign. If anything it is a safe bet to appeal to the legions of kids who still wear black-hooded Nirvana tops at festivals.
