Wrath Supersevens #9

By Various Artists

Happy, happy, joy, joy and thank goodness for the keen eared folk of Wrath. Once again they have bolstered their roster with something quite splendid. Piskie Sits take a seat at the Wrath table and promptly help themselves to the biggest cut of meat right under the noses of the rest. Mmm tasty and cheeky! "Props" is slacker pop in the vein of Pavement with a healthy dose of thickly layered distortion and a melody that sounds just like a playground taunt. So can this be followed? A flip of your vinyl gift and you'll find The Sits fellow Wakefielders The Old House keeping them company. With the production values dropped an iota or two and The Cribs no less at the desk, The Old House paint a woolly picture that also seems to be greatly inspired by the same said American alternative scene but with the sort of loose sound more recently associated with the likes of The Libertines. It's a quality flag flying exercise all round for Wakefield.
