By Paper Cuts
If any bands were to be related to the late At the Drive-in then Paper Cuts would the immature cousin from across the pond whom the family hate to visit at Christmas as they're the ones who get blind drunk and try to hit on your mother.
"Born on a slippery slope" is a proto version of At the Drive-in crossed between the jagged vocals of Reuben. The song is a hail of punk infused with a heavy dose of Microsoft. Although the song has a simple and catchy riff the song doesn't seem to really go anywhere which is a shame as it appears that there is a base of pure possibility here.
"Stand up and be counted" is BRMC being assdrilled by the Ramones. A heavy dose of dirty blues riffs and power chords rammed through a forest of distortion and delay with a sprinkling of Iggy Pop singing barber shop with Omar from the Mars Volta and we have a classic Christmas number one hit right here.
