This is a review of "Set On You" recorded by The Acutes. The review was written by Chris Woolford in 2006.

“I’ve got my heart set on you / I’ve got my heart set on you”

Anyone familiar with the recent Engine Room compilation will know just what a fantastically jolly happy nugget of low-fi pop The Acutes’ ‘Set On You’ is.

The tune bounces up and down, round and round and generally grooves along as much as you could possibly want. This song is slowly becoming an anthem for The Acutes and it’s certainly one of my favourite live songs from last year.

Maybe it’s because it reminds of George Harrison’s ‘I've Got My Mind Set On You’ which my Dad used to play on constant rotation during Sunday lunch. Happy days indeed.
