I Want You to Stay
By Maximo Park
It has been a fairly inauspicious rise to glory for Maximo Park with their Gold selling debut "A Certain Trigger". While the NME rodgered the Kaiser Chiefs, blew the Arctic Monkeys and bent over for all things Doherty, Maximo Park quietly crept into a Mercury nominated spot with little more than word of mouth and a funny haircut on their side. Well that's not quite true, they did have a cracking set of post-Brit-pop guitar tunes and a fistful of energy to wave in people's faces. So if everyone now knows about them, why release a fourth single off an album which everyone who's likely to have bought, probably already has? Because even the Indiest of Indie labels understands the simple economics of "bleed 'em dry" and besides it's also available on turquoise vinyl! The song itself is a mellower moment drawn from the album although it does build to hearty jig by the end replete with Kaiseresque saw wave synths. It will certainly find favour with the disenchanted using as it does the hook "Cause nothing works round here". In all honesty buy the album and get the other 3 singles included, unless of course you are a Parkette with a comb over who can't live without turquoise vinyl.
