By The Needles
Like the illegitimate sons of Buddy Holly and The Hives, The Needles are one big pointy load of fun. Following on from their last spiky 1-2-3...5! EP this ups the anti even further for some big attention to be cast their way. "Dianne" is about as good as it gets when catchy is the order of the day and why it isn't adorning the airwaves right now is a total mystery... oh no hang on they probably are not paying the right radio bimbos to pretend to be their mates. Perfect pop formed after reducing the following: Elvis Costello, Razorlight and The Hives, on a low heat in a large pan with sprinkling of amphetamine. With more energy than the national grid who needs nuclear power? "Delivery Day" and "Black Belt" are more of the same and from hotly tipped also-rans The Needles are emerging as potential dark horses, which can only be a much more pleasing position. Aberdeen may be a windswept festival of rain most of the time but with these boys flying your flag it must at least feel sunny.
