Travel Is Dangerous

By Mogwai

This five track EP from Glaswegian post rockers Mogwai is a more competent than enthralling release, which is of little surprise when there are no new tracks present. What you get for your money are the title track, two fairly mediocre remixes of "Auto Rock" and "Friend of The Night", both originally released on the last LP, "Mr Beast", plus two live songs "We're No Here" and the fans' favourite "Like Herod".

The title track is clearly one of the best tracks off Mr Beast complete with its walls of sound, multi layered soundscapes and, unusually, vocals courtesy of founding member Stuart Braithwaite. There isn't even a vocoder in sight.

Glasgow mega snake would have been a more bold choice of single but with no new material on offer it makes this release little more than one for the die hard collectors.
