God Lead Your Soul

By The Sleepy Jackson

The timing couldn't be better for the return of Australian eccentrics The Sleepy Jackson as they release the first single to be taken from their forthcoming album 'Personality'. With the temperature rising and the sun shining outside, 'God Lead Your Soul' is like a lost relic from the sixties era of dreamy, laid back summer pop music, encapsulating the sound of a perfect summers day if there ever was one.

As the song opens, you would be forgiven for mistaking it to be a lost Beach Boys song, with the sound of waves hitting some faraway shore perfectly complimenting the sweeping harmonies that combine to provide the backdrop for lead singer Luke's mesmerizing lead vocals. From this platform, the song builds up to become a beautiful, summer symphony of soaring strings and heavenly sweeping backing vocals. It's near impossible not to close your eyes and allow yourself to drift into the dreamy world of tranquillity that the music directs you to.

The Sleepy Jackson's return signals a resurrection of the musical sound of the psychedelic sixties and offers the perfect accompaniment to a carefree, laid back summer. They provide a refreshing change from the dominant indie force controlling the music scene of late, with irresistible sun-drenched harmonies and cosmic instrumentals in a song that gives an insight into the creative vision of a symphonic soul.

If 'God Lead Your Soul' is a testament to the quality of new album 'Personality', then we can anticipate the perfect soundtrack to a perfect summer awaiting us.
