Time after time Muse's epic soundscapes entice me; however hard I try to resist; and thoroughly excellent new single "Starlight" is no different. Beginning with supposedly foreboding and Muse trademark guitars Matt Bellamy doesn't wait too long before seducing the listener with his most powerful tool: his voice. All said, the band's musical arrangements on the track don't come into being just by accident.
This single definitely falls into the category of Muse material whereby both Bellamy's voice and the music itself fuse together to create an awesome fusion of two elements together against the world. The bridge absolutely the point at which this is proven.
"I don't know if it's worth it anymore... And hold you in my arms"; such a deeply romantic sentiment hidden in a whirlwind of confusion. And having seen "Starlight" performed live in someone's arms I can testify that Muse's songsmith has done it once again.
Here's to hoping that he some may call the lyricist who defined a generation continues to articulate our innermost feelings for a long, long time.
