Heaven / Saved

By Lorraine

Horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible CD. If you haven't heard of Lorraine or their music before you truly are blessed. Sounding like U2 covering the soundtrack from 'The Neverending Story' this really is an abomination of a release. Norwegian singer Ole Gundersen wasted minutes of my life I will not get back with his nonsensical warbling and lyrics like 'There's a clock on the wall and it counts my time'. That's what it's there for Ole. Only makes me think he hasn't quite got the grasp of English. Both songs sound as offensively bland as the other. They apparently 'take reference points from Depeche Mode, The Cure, New Order and The Smiths'. It's a pity they couldn't rip off any of these bands as that could be forgiven but their own 'timeless' songs cause more agony than bad rehashes of previous artists. Steer clear of this band for as long as you can.

Hey Scott, if you're gonna be this bombastic in your reviews, at least do your music history homework first. Since "Heaven" is a cover of the Psychedelic Furs' 80s hit, spending half the review on trashing Lorraine's lyric writing capacities seems a bit off the mark, hm?

Bah...it matters not which twit wrote these lyrics for I could have easily said the same for the second track. I never did music history homework at school for I was a naughty boy. Many apologies.

"if you're gonna be this bombastic"

That is a great sentence

Scott Lewis did you actually listen to the cd or decide it was an easy option to slag off the music as well as the band. The fact that you did not do your homework indicates the level at which your review is based. The lyrics to HEAVEN were written by an englishman. I would urge all to go and see these guys live and form your own opinion. The current ep is brilliant as are the songs the band have in their set. If you ignore the comments by Scott Lewis and check them out you will be blessed !!!!
