Little Hope
By Superkings
Beautiful pianos and tear jerking melodies are the order of the day from Superkings.
Based mainly on a skilled Joanna and forlorn vocals their lyrical content is quite simply depressing. I wouldn't want to be married to the songwriter that's for sure. Talk of marriages going, well, wrong plus hoping, praying and forgetting it all with dope to make everything feel alright. Or not as the case may be.
Superkings fit somewhere between Bright Eyes and Nick Cave. More euphoric than the later, more melancholy than the former. This record is sad, sweet and melodic. Miserable yet uplifting. I like it and enjoy it but I certainly wouldn't want to listen to it if I'm going through a messy divorce.
A band for everyone except heartbroken lovers with suicidal tendencies me thinks.
