Revl9n are the kind of electro/techno pop that is so fashionable at the moment. Yet 'Walking Machine' is super radio-friendly, sounding more like Mylo than 'true' electronica. On the plus side, it comes packaged with enough well-thought out licks, plops and drops to keep the more critical listener entertained for the first few plays. The remixes, like remixes should, add a different dimension to the song. The Hot Chip remix gives the song room to breathe, providing a host of blips and laid back synth stabs familiar to Hot Chip fans. The Simian Mobile Disco remix is a little lacklustre, tame and without enough variation to keep the listener entertained over the original. But that's just my opinion. The final remix by Sebastian deconstructs the song and pieces together with, well, pieces missing. The result is a mental jigsaw of sound, patched together by a pumping rhythm. I like it and I would consider mixing it in a set sometime too.
