By The Wombats
The Wombats have formulated a pop song good enough to get the most shoe-gazing, miserable indie kids dancing in the disco. The Liverpool band have great lyrics about a fucked up relationship/weekend/life and how moving to New York will eradicate all of these things. Pounding bass and brilliant guitar riffs throughout make this a joyous tale of heartbreak.
B-side Party In A Forest (Where's Laura?) is the story of getting wasted in a rave in a field and wanting, once again, to be far away from this predicament. This time though he wants to see his missus. More witty and comical lyrics come thick and fast 'Upper class thugs take middle class drugs' and 'Trance music bangs, a comical dance of cardboard boxes and fish. We're the fairies from hell and we're all on a death wish.'
They're getting play on Zane Low and Huw Stephens and are ready to break out from their Mersey chains into the wide world. Definitely worth spending your pennies on.
