Flashboy

By Rex Radio

Rex Radio are an up and coming four piece from the smoke (London), but we can't hold that against them. I can think of lots of amusing and entertaining artists to emerge from our capital (does Phil and grant Mitchell carol singing count?)

They are signed to B-Unique Records which house, among others, local heroes Kaiser Chiefs. So if they rate them we better take a closer look.

This track is well composed and fairly catchy coupled with strong vocals, heavy percussion and a groovy beat. It is instantly likeable, but after a few listens sounded fairly monotonous. I would like to have been able to listen to more tracks in their armoury, but unfortunately only Flashboy was provided for review.

Comparisons are fairly handy when reviewing a new band and, in my opinion, they sound fairly similar to the new Charlatans material.

The jury is out on Rex Radio, definitely not to be written off, but more material is needed to make a sound judgement. Keep your eyes posted for the next instalment.
