By The Take
This is easily in my Top 5 records of the year. It's absolutely amazing. The Take are from Wales, they've put out a couple of singles that are ace and now they have this beast. If I had to summarise the sound, it's like At the Drive-In style discordance, but with early Jimmy-Eat-World poppiness. What's weird is that they never get so discordant that they plummet into the world of "really underground" and they hide their poppiness so well that the whole package seems fresh and catchy but will appeal to hardcore kids as well as people that like catchy pop goodness.
I have to admit that this review is hard to write. Honestly it's too good for me to get the message across. Everyone I play it to loves it. Just go on their Myspace or whatever and listen. Then buy it.
That's all I have to say. If you like anything from Get-Up Kids to Converge you'll absolutely love this record. Long live The Take.
