My initial impression before I was handed this one track CD was that these were the typical modern band that are ten-a-penny at the moment. But these boys don't mess around one bit, they grab you by the proverbial nutsack and just don't let go. Straight from the off they inject us with a high dose of pop/indie/punk that's frighteningly catchy. Straightforward guitar riffs, reminiscent of The Streets' 'Fit But You Know It', almost lethargic vocals, topped with wailing lyrics that appear to rhyme for rhyme's sake. But nevertheless, it's such a likeable song.
Something about this tune is just so compelling. 'Sexy In Latin' is structurally so simple, yet it's extremely captivating. Maybe it's the bouncy rhythm, maybe it's the effortlessly witty lyrics; whatever it is, it's got all the elements of a great hit and with bands like The Fratellis being popular with the same kind of material at the moment, the band's release timing couldn't be better.
