A House Is Not a Home

By Field Music

Plinky-plonky: the immediate sensory awareness of Field Music's latest single. Two and a half minutes later, you're not left disappointed; this is plinky-plonky of the highest order. Quirky and, at times, cutting lyrics fill the space between folky strings and plenty of high-hat. The song has rhythm and a real direction, unlike certain previous releases by Field Music. It rises and falls, rescued by a constant drum beat that points them clearly in the direction of progress. The B-side, 'Logic', is almost as good, and equally intelligent. Built-in refrains, subtle interludes and perfect vocal harmonies keep the momentum going. This single comes highly recommended and sets up the pending release of their new album nicely.
