By Cortney Tidwell
It's not unusual to find dance-based remixes of indie artists left wanting, so when the title track from the Nashville-based Cortney Tidwell's 'Don't Let The Stars Keep Us Tangled Up' is given a dance-floor makeover you have every right to be dubious.
Cortney Tidwell's original can only be described as absolutely masterful, so trying to uphold any dignity with a remix was always going to be a difficult task, yet against all the odds Pearson has given a decent account of himself providing a re-work that oozes quality.
Though the most striking feature of Ewan Pearson's full-length cut is Tidwell's beautifully tranquil vocals that instantly invoke thoughts of Bjork, Pearson makes good use of the gentle strings and sea of synthesised layers to deliver an enjoyable spacey house effort that rolls in at 12 minutes long.
If you find yourself captivated by this download-only release, you might decide to chase Cortney Tidwell's debut album (released in July of last year and highly recommended).
