By Kid Carpet
You can't knock Kid Carpet. He's gone out, found a niche in the market for plugging in toys and singing about daily wows. Whereas the old stuff was, in his own words "sad songs played in a ridiculous way", the content of new EP The Kid's Back is a little more upbeat. Yes there's still the job worries, but now he is employed but can't be arsed in 'Employee Of The Month', with clever lyrics covering all the excuses explained for a sickie, to a happy hardcore beat.
'Make It Look Good' uses the old Casio keyboard again to provide more of a tune than before for the sung vocals about cosmetics, all with a good non-pronunciation of the letter 'T'. That and some lovely female "woos". 'The Kid's Back' is laden heavily with samples containing the words in the title; no lyrics apart from that, and no vocals.
The female vocals are back again for 'She's A Vegan', a self-explanatory song about people choices.
I can't wait for the new album out this year; the live show is where to find the best from KC 'til then, or check out more babblings on 'Carpet Megastore' on the web.
