Ready When You Are EP

By The Shadowcops

According to their press release, The Shadowcops set out to be a "no bullshit, just 100% rock" band, one that combats the current trend of  "shoe-gazing, boring as fuck bands who spend more time trying to look like a rock band than actually sounding like one".

And you have to say, they do it pretty well.

The opener 'Nasty Little Bureaucrat', barely coming in at one minute forty, instantly shows us where we stand. This isn't glitzy rock. This is dirty, energetic, sleazy, and most importantly, fun. Something quite a lot of bands nowadays seem to have unfortunately forgotten about.

The 3rd track, 'My My, My Personal Ennui', is where we see what The Shadowcops really have to offer though. Tight, yet not giving a fuck. Catchy, yet dirt ridden. Brilliant, yet unpretentious.

Early Wildhearts certainly springs to mind - back in the day when they did under produced, shit quality recordings, that still managed to sound head-crushingly good.

Oof - nice.
