The Ripps sound like Supergrass but are so much more annoying and much less inventive.

They sound like they'd be friends with The Kooks and all the other user-friendly J17-reader bullshit that's going on at the moment. They sing about Wetherspoons and English binge-drinking culture and all that stuff. The Press Kit says things like "furious!" and "punk!" and "edge!" but thus far I've found absolutely nothing that would necessitate these words being used as describing The Ripps.

They'll probably sell out Leeds Met in two months, but in general there's nothing about The Ripps that you can't already find in both the current crop of simply better bands like Jamie T and Razorlight or older bands like Blur and Supergrass, who both obviously influenced not only The Ripps but most of this tired genre of "socially aware" naff pop with guitars.

I thought the Ripps sounded alright online, but saw them at the Faversham (Live at Leeds) and they were awful. Completely different band (not actually - I'm not that thick). Was really disappointed. Injustice if they make it big I'm afraid.
