Kill The Director

By The Wombats

I'm sure I'm supposed to hate The Wombats because I hate Razorlight and The View. No way!! The Wombats are really good!

Imagine Bloc Party if they were still releasing really good singles like Tulips and came from Liverpool. It's all staccato riffs and neat vocal hook lines, plus Matthew Murphy, who sings, has a really nice sense of humour to his lyrics and sounds like you could enjoy a pint with him.

One day everyone will realise that The Wedding Present, actually everything on Rough Trade Records circa '89 to '95, invented all this spikey pop Englishness years ago, but until then The Wombats are easily the best Nu-Indie NME band I've heard this year.
