By Russian Circles
When Russian Circles recorded this album they knew that it could never be a "disjointed batch of songs". It was only ever destined to become "one giant piece" which hung every other post-rock band by the testicles from its horns for forty four unrelenting minutes. Through the six 'songs' you are transported from the eerily ethereal opening of Carpe to jittery drum snaps to snarling guitar swipes, sometimes building up towards crescendo, other times simply being pulled instantaneously from one to another. A chilling epic at its heart, this enchanting vocal-less rock has raised the bar for many a post-rock band, promising a bright future ahead.
