History

By Grand Volume

Here we go, a brand new, truly exiting new act, Grand Volume, a very unbaggy threesome from Manchester, with their debut double A-side.

'History' combines the immediacy of the best guitar pop songs with the straight up power of US rawk and the angular inventiveness of the best post punk. All in 2 minutes and 4 seconds. Think Buzzcocks, Wire, QOTSA, Fugazi. Into our Ears indeed.

'Fire Come Soon' is more prog-punk (as the press release insists on calling it about 4 times) more Muse, funkier and looser after the tension of History.

You can pick this baby up ow on 7" and download. It's certainly looking good for the forthcoming album 'Send Me Your Champion' and definitely worth a shout live. Look out for these guys.

Grand Volume, all the way up to eleven, baby, yeah!

Strange that considering I've already reviewed this.

Maybe mine wasn't favourable enough? ;)

I guess they are re-releasing it? And it got through my "no reviews of re-releases" rule. Sorry Russell!

No worries Dave, I thought that myself.

I bet they prefer this review anyway!

Sorry Russell, I missed this first time around, still liking it though, mainly because it pushed my post-punk buttons, but I can see your point. mind you i've seen far more 'exitable' press releases in my time!!
just to confound things I've just sent in a review of Charlotte Hatherleys latest only to find you reviewed the last one! I'm not a stalker, honest!
