By Boy Kill Boy
It's been over 12 months since I've heard anything from Boy Kill Boy so I was interested to hear what they'd been able to produce after such a long wait.
Having listened to it a few times it seems to be a bit of a grower; not immediately catchy, it improves with each listen. It is quintessentially a "Boy Kill Boy" song, easily recognisable as being their style; a little melancholy bordering on EMO and almost a power ballad in places, it's fundamentally a song about loss.
By their own standards this isn't one of their stronger singles, it's not as catchy as previous singles "Suzie" or "Civil Sin" and whereas it's not a bad song it's one I'm struggling to remember even minutes after listening to it.
Judging from this single, as is so often the case with bands on their second album, their new material struggles to measure up to their debut. I can't see it winning over new fans or making much of an impact on the charts but will probably be liked by the majority of their existing fans.
