Paperpushers are an eclectic six-piece band based in Leeds. Originally founded in Scarborough in 2006 they have been described by the local media as "one of the town's most innovative and exciting new bands." Blending their collective musical influences, the band captures the energy and intensity of heavier types of dance music mixing it with indie guitars and catchy vocals in compact pop tracks.
In their short time together, Paperpushers have already been making waves. Their first demo won 'CD of the month' in Sound on Sound Magazine (April '07); they were announced winners of Leeds' Bright Young Things '08 competition; and, more recently, came a close second in the Jack Daniels National Battle of the Bands '08. A track from the band's new demo will be featured in the independent film The Last Days of Edgar Harding directed by the up and coming Leeds film-maker Stephen Fox, produced by Digital Ghost Productions. Three Paperpushers' tracks have also had a large amount of airplay on LSRfm throughout university term times and the band's music has been in high demand for remixes. Gigging prolifically, the band has been billed with as varied artists as Fingathing, Gallows and The Fratellis and have rocked crowds across the country.
Paperpushers formed as a live project, playing at local club nights on line-ups dominated by DJs. Their intense live show quickly gained them a loyal following and made them a big fixture on the Scarborough scene. After setting up base in Leeds the band also started to play in London at the legendary Yes Boss warehouse parties where they continue to create a buzz.
With driving ambition, determination and a passionate work ethic, the band has set high goals. They are currently working towards the release of their first single which is due out at the start of the New Year.
