By Good Riddance
Chaptering the last hometown show of punk band Good Riddance; it's May 27th, 2007 and The Catalyst venue in Santa Cruz, California is full to bursting. Many GR fans are singing with their heroes for the last time; and for those of us unable to get there, here we have it. The atmosphere is caught so well you can imagine you were there and the mastering (done at the Blasting Room) produces a very high quality recording, so the raw energy of this memorable gig lasts forever.
The band are very polite, thanking the crowd after nearly every song. Though they sound a little pooped between the tracks, the effort they put into playing the songs is second to none. Songs are here from their entire back catalogue, 'Mother Superior', 'Waste', 'Made To Be Broken', 'Yesterday's Headlines', 'Shit-Talking Capitalists', 'Last Believer', in fact the 31-song album is pretty exhausting to read out, let alone play!
Russ Rankin's voice is as good as ever, and I as well as many people am sad that they have called it a day, and we will no longer have their brand of melodic hardcore.
