By 30 Seconds To Mars
After a super incredible year, and being in the public's heads with single 'The Kill' not so long ago, Leto & co release track seven from their album as a single. We are given 'From Yesterday'.
Beginning with a blend of constant hums, the volume increases to bring the lyrics into play. Calm, atmospheric, mellow vocals are broken at the chorus as Jared powerfully ballads out the chorus line, over and over. It feels emotional, and by the end of the song you'll no doubt be singing along. It's a slow builder, but when it gets to climax it smashes through the wall rather than taking the easy door option. Like 'The Kill', this single has passion running through its lyrics, and the explosion of everything at the chorus is obviously a trait playing out well for 30secs.
With a sell out tour now under their belts from the start of '08, these guys are in demand. The video for 'From Yesterday' jumps between modern day America and Emperor-period China and is more a short film than a music video. It's obviously not a bad thing taking ideas and influence from the Emperor period though, as 30 Seconds To Mars will be kings in no time, though of music most probably.
