The product of Brighton based solo artist Laish (aka Daniel Green), the Tan Hits And Trinkets EP is a journey into lo-fi experimentalism with an eerie folk angle.
Released on Daniel's own indie imprint Glosses Fur Die Masses Records, these six songs explore the subjects of love and death. Highlights include "The Love Written Down" with vocals tinged with melancholy and a simplistic yet, effectively beautiful guitar arrangement, whilst the vocals in "Pity No More" draw similarities with British folk star Adem. And in the multi-looped EP closer "With Myself" we have a song that should please fans of David Thomas Broughton.
Not one for over-blown glossy production enthusiasts, the Tan Hits And Trinkets EP recalls the work of Vincent Gallo and The Microphones in startling fashion, and as unlikely as this is to reach out to you in one sitting, further examination proves Daniel Green is a fascinating prospect well worth keeping an eye on.
