By The Wombats
I like The Wombats perhaps in the same way that I'd find it hard to dislike a real fuzzy wombat. Whilst real wombats have big old claws, The Wombats have big old hooks, and Backfire At The Disco is full of them. True, there's quite an excess of wooo-hooos here, but we should come to expect that from the indie-pop bracket. The difference with The Wombats being that their nocturnal musings are fun, they have lyrical wit and most importantly, they're not The Hoosiers. Backfire At The Disco is proof alone that The Wombats know a good riff when they hear one and know how to get the sweaty masses moving. Wombats would dig this record.
Regarding the remixes, you might want to consider obliterating the KGB remix from the surface of the Earth, let alone the CD. For ear-blistering bass alone, the South Central remix is a keeper.
