Parva

Live at Leeds Festival 2002 on Saturday, 24th August 2002

Leeds hotshots Parva open proceedings on the Carling Stage and it's clear they feel they have something to prove. Lead singer Ricky Wilson catches the eye as he leaps about like a madman during energetic, chaotic renditions of anthemic singles Good Bad Right Wrong and Heavy. After a sleazy performance of Couldn't Contain, he charms the audience with an out-of-breath thanks to the previous night's headliners, Guns 'n' Roses, for supporting them at the festival. Parva's spiky indie-pop is well-received by the crowd, with Hessles, a rocking tribute to inner-city life in Leeds, a noisy pointer to the fact that the five-piece have the potential to move right up the bill for next year's festival.
