Sahara Hotnights

Live at Leeds Festival 2002 on Sunday, 25th August 2002

Hot they are, night it isn't. Three raven haired and one blonde-haired beauties blowing the hangovers in the crowd away have a fair amount of blokey and Hives fans. It's cool pop-punk and even if it is first thing in the morning (in festy terms) it's pretty straight bat delivery from Jennie and her crew. Come on, cheer up ladies.

OK, there's some great choons lurking in their set, the super 'Alright, Alright' comes to mind, as does 'On Top of Your World' which gets a fair few of the girls singing in the crowd. But you'd have thought a band that had been together for ten years and were a household name might have been a tad more bothered about leaving us wanting some more. At least Karin at the back with the drums gives it some at the end - stick in the air and air kisses... that's more like it.
