Their music derives from several roots including jazz, folk and country and is usually termed €˜urban roots or €˜country soul although listeners can detect influences as diverse as The Band, Tracy Chapman, Natalie Merchant and Norah Jones.
The band lineup is now Allison Russell (singer/guitar/clarinet), Awna Teixeira (singer/banjo/gutbucket bass), Benny Sidelinger (multi-instrumentalist), and JJ Jones (drums).
Their 4th album "Deer in the Night" has just been released to tremendous acclaim and they have just embarked on their 3rd major tour of the UK which will take the band to 32 venues nationwide
