The Wick-Effect - Leeds
The Wick Effect offers an explanation for spontaneous human combustion - this is a reference to name of the band, not our 4 Leeds lads turning all scientific on your asses...
Cool - brutally graphic - band name aside, The Wick Effect are post punk rockers with lashings of powerful vocals and influences from the likes of Interpol, Sisters of Mercy and The Sound. Fresh from the studio TWE have recently headlined gigs at Northern Monkey and The Library to much acclaim.

Section ii - Leeds
Championed by BBC Raw Talent Introducing, Section 2 became official in October 2009. Consisting of 4 members- Paul Carter- Vox, Keys Phil Sibson- Guitar, Keys Jon Sibson- Bass Phil Sumner- Drums, the boys have amalgamated from bands such as; The Music, Twisted Wheel, Grammatics and Screaming Lights. Influenced by the likes of; Joy Division, David Bowie, Kraftwerk, The Pixies, Depche Mode - they have effortlessly integrated powerful synth beats with layered guitar mastery. After recently supporting Aura @ The Manchester Academy, Section ii are coming to DC to rock your little furry socks off and add to their rapidly growing reputation on the Northern gig scene,

The Broadcast Society - Leeds
Signed to 'Dance To The Radio Records' our headliners were spawned in Horsforth, germinated in a Pudsey Mill and spat onto our collective laps now, The Broadcast Society is a young three piece ready to be tasted.

John Wellby, bassist and vocalist, needed a band to rid him of the songs that had calcified about his brain while he slept at night. Enter Dave Horner, an ambient tape music obsessive schooled in jazz guitar and Liam Pickering, a man with nought but two drumsticks and a sense of willing to his name. Charged with foisting the melody trapped in John's head upon the world, they set about their task early 2008. Fast forward to 2010 and with a reputation for pulsating live performances, The Broadcast Society have forged a sound of angular guitar lines, soaring vocals and heart stopping intense drums.

'The next gem in the stone to rise from Leeds is (no not Jermaine Beckford) Broadcast Society with "Behind Your Back" the band are straight down the line, they play typical Indie Rock. Broadcast Society don't try to hide who they are and what they represent, and why should they at the end of the day "Behind Your Back" is an explosive addiction lets hope there is more to come from these guys. '

'Imagine The Killers' front man with a British accent and the guitarist playing highly reminiscent U2 guitar riffs, and you'll begin to fathom the sound of Broadcast Society. A throwback to '80s British Rock, they will get any music lover off their seat and dancing'

'DTTR want to use 4x12" to highlight brand new talent alongside some of the more well known new bands, and Broadcast Society are one of the most exciting prospects for 2009.'
