Submitted Preview:
The popular 'Empire of Crows' monthly event continues with an influx of Bradford bands.
'Empire of Crows' @ Empire (Leeds), Thursday 26th April
Featuring;
THE MEXANINES -
'The Mexanines are a three piece, bluesy indie/rock band from Bradford, combining big riffs and flowing melodies with toe tapping beats to get the audience moving. They've played a whole host of venues like the Bingley Music Live Festival 2010, The Factory in Manchester, and The O2 Academy Leeds; It was here in fact the band won a competition that confirmed their slot on the BBC Introducing Stage at Leeds and Reading 2011.'
'Bluesy indie/rock as tight as their jeans' - Bang The Drum Magazine
NGOD -
NGOD throw out track after track of well-produced up-and-down beat, angular rock that sprawls from the stage in sheer blockades of power.
Whereas most two-guitar four-piece bands seem to have a built-in attitude of riff-first, ask questions later, NGOD appear to approach each of their beautifying three-minute packets from all angles via all instruments. This comes across in their music, each track presenting a synthesis which in the hands of lesser musicians would come across poorly.
TI AMO -
Ti Amo provide a highly energetic fresh sound that compliments the style and tastes of all listeners.
With four part harmonies to heavy breakdowns, chants to dynamic middle 8's, Ti Amo set out to create music with substance whilst not lacking passion.
The four piece quartet from Bradford have real rock star qualities, which they carefully blend with a side kick of adrenalin, and they always leave you wanting more.
With gigs at venues such as Bradford's St George Hall, Leeds Cockpit (main room) Sheffield's Leadmill, Manchester's iconic Fac251 and the Bingley Music Live Festival 2011 already under their belts, Ti Amo are definitely making a positive wave on music scene following the launch of their hard hitting pop anthem "Dance Instructor"
