Gig Review

Opening tonight's 360 Club is moustachioed singer songwriter Look Yonder. Everything about the performance, from his appearance to the ukulele to the thoughtful stance of the songs themselves feels very deliberate.

The Sailmakers:

''Big things coming for The Sailmakers" - Alan Raw-BBC Introducing

Release their new single 'Remember' - 24th August on iTunes, Spotify & Amazon. An exclusive free download will be available at this gig, in advance of the official release.

"The Sailmakers hail from Leeds and bring with them a charming Northern rawness to the folk scene. With their warm guitar picking and echoey choral yet masculine vocals, they are gaining momentum and popular acclaim."? - Sound Stand

"melancholic and yet truly fascinating song-writing"? - Croon

"There are some great harmonies around the strong lead vocals. I expect to be seeing much more of this band - with their melodic well thought out songs."? - Yorkshire Music Collective -

Formes:

Tom Robinson - BBC6 music said:
"the vocals of Steve McNamara take you somewhere else, not too far away, but far enough"?.

"Beautiful"? Alan Raw - BBC Introducing

Their 'sound' is wildly subjective, with live shows flirting between psychedelic, blues, and indie rock. A solid rhythm, large amounts of tasteless reverb and effects through their guitars to create intense atmospheres and frantic improvised jams.

Formed in February 2012, they have already received some recognition with airplay on BBC Introducing who described their music as 'Beautiful' . With other plays from Beth Elfyn (ex BBC Radio 1) on Amazing Radio. They are due to record their debut EP in September at Loom Studios, Birstall with renowned producer Grant Henderson.

Mordrake:

http://soundcloud.com/mordrake/sets

"Named after a man with an extra face on the back of his head, Mordrake is the new project of critically acclaimed Asa Hawks escapees Katy Raine and Mo Ellis, along with Johnny Hart (Lymon Willis).

Blending folk, Americana and rough-round-the-edges ramshackle blues, Mordrake are one of a kind. With rich, precise harmonies, sensitive and skilful guitars and driving percussion, Mordrake bring something fresh to the live music table.

Currently working with MAS Records, the band have just released a live session EP"

"Be warned though, their gigs are addictive. 30 minutes and you'll be hooked for life."

Look Yonder:

"Look Yonder is one man, a ukulele and his moustache. Short but sweet songs with crowd silencing vocals - reminiscent of Devendra Banhart but definitely different. Look Yonder is all over the Leeds scene at the moment. Personal highlight from his set has to be Arab Spring, I absolutely love it at the moment but then it's not every day you hear something like this, (though now I've found it, it is)"
- Callum Lister, Leeds Acoustic

One man, making a big, unique sound with just a ukulele and his lungs; Look Yonder encompasses the lyrical complexity of a 1960s troubadour and haunting, soulful vocal tones evoking tales of love, hope and fantasy.

His 8 track EP is available here: http://lookyonder.bandcamp.com/
