CD Review: Catylyst - 21st Century Nursery Rhymes
Catylyst are a class act, there's no doubt about it. Competing with Lorimer for the being Leeds' tightest band, their live show is amazing, their song writing equally so and now this EP is up there too, proving they also sound excellent recorded.

Out of all three bands playing at the Futuresound gig tonight it's obvious as the crowd disperses onto the dance floor which band most people have come to see.

Live Review: 5ft4 + Herrod + Catylyst
It's Saturday night, the cellars are dark, and Steve Kind is bellowing for us to greet rock uber-beasts CATYLYST, and as they take the stage amidst the roar of two distorted guitars, I'm sitting on the edge of my seat with my fist poised for punching the air and I'm ready to rock.

Given the amount of hype openers FLIPSIDE give themselves, I could be forgiven for thinking I'd walked into the wrong venue had it not been for the stately John Keenan on the door.

I was supposed to be going to Josephs Well tonight to see Brody, Sugarvalve and Catylyst. Unfortunately they cancelled, so I rang my friends and said, hey no problem I'm definitely coming to see you guys now, only to check the discussion board and see that it had been rearranged at Royal Park and was going ahead as planned aaaahhhhhh!!!

Live Review: The Jellys + Catylyst
Catylyst are not having a good night. But it's not their fault; a series of cock ups with Chris' guitar and a bad sound due to the P.A man's efforts (or lack of) didn't do this outstanding band any justice.

Although the number of Oceansize shows in Leeds can still be counted on the fingers of one hand, they are not all new faces to these parts having spent pre-band time in the heart of Leeds 6 before their formation over the hills in Lancashire.

Continuing on with the now established 'Wednesday... Whatever' nights, we had a bit of a disappointing turn out in all honesty, maybe due to the fact that there were only two bands playing or that the opening band's mates had school the next day.

So first things first I was slightly amused that four acts of this calibre had agreed to play the Ackroyd Street Working Men's Club, yet still due to the hype like many others couldn't resist the opportunity so bought a ticket from Crash Records for £2.50 (cheap cheap) just to see!

Well blimey! I walk into Joseph's Well at about 3:20pm after standing in the pissing rain for 20 minutes outside the place (yes, you said you were opening at three!) but at least it gave me chance to sober up slightly seeing as I had been in Carpe Diem for the three previous hours and was somewhat jolly already.
