CD Review: Fi-Lo Radio - Skin Deep Demons
I've been impressed with Manchester three-piece Fi-Lo Radio ever since I stumbled across their 7" single "Pretty Bones"; and when they showed they could cut it live too - a gig at Josephs Well late 2001 saw Fi-Lo Radio win over a rocking Leeds crowd - I reckoned they'd be ones to watch in 2002.

From the same rock family tree as Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Brian Jonestown Massacre come The Soft Explosions, a New York four-piece rock'n'roll combo in the classic Stones mould.

CD Review: And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead - Worlds Apart
What's the future of rock and roll in 2005? With many bands filling the charts with standard indie ballads, a lot of people would say it's in a sorry state as the expressionism is lost and individuality is getting harder and harder to find, whilst maybe others would argue that the fact this music is becoming popular is a sign of the times changing, of "alternative" music making it big in waves, and that maybe the influx of younger (and older) fans turning to the genre can only be a good thing?

CD Review: Orange Fall - Untitled
Classic 70s/80s Rock sounds different from each side of the guitar. When your foot's on the monitor speaker those ringing power chords, the thrill of that stereo effect double lead solo, the surge of the harmonies and the deep judder of the rhythm section feel like the power to take over the world, if not a small section of the universe.

Live Review: The Stations + Kram + Dinosaur Pile-up
If at any point I think that covering all of the Futuresound heats is starting to drag or feel too much like hard work, sets as top-drawer as the one Dinosaur Pile-up spoil us with tonight will surely stand as proof that it's worth making the effort for these gigs.

CD Review: Biffy Clyro - Puzzle
Biffy Clyro are, inexplicably, one of those bands you're not really allowed to like. All too often dismissed as lowly emo, the Scottish three-piece band have somehow never quite broken in to the mainstream.

Live Review: Vessels + Immune + Itch + Downdime + i concur
The Brudenell has played host to a number of extremely special shows in recent times, and tonight Vessels laid down a pretty good claim as to why this should go down as one of them. The homecoming gig of their UK tour, tonight showcased some of the very best in emerging talent from Leeds, culminating in one of the finest shows Radio One's favourite unsigned band have ever performed.

CD Review: The Warlocks - The Mirror Explodes
What's the usual form for a band releasing their fifth long player, taking into account a dwindling public profile and a forthcoming tour of ever more 'intimate' venues?

Firstly an apology. I'm going to get a bit nostalgic in this review. Please bear with me. Back in the crazy days of the Leeds Music Scene (circa 2001) I saw a band play several awesome gigs at The Well.

Punk glam rockers Phluid's debut LP 'Cynical Smile' does exactly what you want it to - plays loud, fast and with it's cross dressing, black-eyed, drug pumped heart on it's sleeve.

Live Review: Duels + ˇForward, Russia! + iLiKETRAiNS + The Lodger + This Et Al + The Old House
Dance to the Radio was an event. Is it possible to review an event? Even straight description couldn't get deep enough into the complexities and impossibilities of making such a thing not just happen but happen so brilliantly.

CD Review: Red Star - Law And Order
'Law And Order,' the debut album from Huddersfield's Red Star, kicks off with 'Northerners (In London Town).' This piece of low-key, laidback indie grooviness relies mainly on a strong vocal performance from frontman Will Bloy and some simple electro beats that add that extra oomph to the chorus.
