New rave. Makes you want to look away doesn't it? New talent being pigeonholed into genre specific straight jackets, and all as a sorry excuse for the latest scene or fad to grow and take hold of our vulnerable teens.

CD Review: The Pigeon Detectives - Untitled
The Pigeon Detectives are one of the most entertaining live bands around Leeds at the moment. On stage their frantic and furious frontman belts out shambolic rock 'n' roll gems like there's no tomorrow, often threatening to decapitate one of the band's guitarists as he throws his mic stand, microphone and himself around the stage in an uncontrolled fit of pleasure.

Oh yeah baby, bring back that rock and roll! Only - if they could play and sing that would be great, but with out of tune vocals and guitars throughout I must say that from listening to this first track "Till The Night Is Through" I am NOT impressed.

Live Review: Sparta + Silt + Four Planes In Four Days
Four Planes In Four Days provide a low-key start to the night, their mid-paced, dynamic rock gets a decent response from the small crowd, even though the dynamics of the music don't quite work in this small venue.

CD Review: Lostprophets - The Betrayed
It's safe to say this record has been a long time coming. The Welsh emo/nu-matel/poprock band's third album 'Liberation Transmission' (roundly accepted as a thorough disappointment, given the quality of 2004's 'Start Something') was released back in 2006, and frontman Ian Watkins has been announcing to any audience who'd listen at every gig since, that their 4th record would be out in the coming year.

This was always going to be a special gig for Indicator because not only is it their first ever headline show, its also the first gig since the release of the "Critical Resistance EP" and as a group of slightly pissed up punks gather in the pool room turned rock club of "the Railway" it's impossible to ignore the great sense of expectation in the air.

I'm always suspicious of acts whose press releases seem overly keen to labour the point that their musical influences are made up of a diverse mix of seemingly irreconcilable bands and artists, as well as stressing the fact that their sound cannot be "pidgeonholed" in any way whatsoever.

Quickly cast aside as quite frankly preposterous any mistaken apprehension that the hushed rumours and tales whispering their way around the Red and Yellow campsites on Saturday morning were of Maiden's amazingly iconic 'Number Of The Beast', Bloc Party's 'Pioneers', aftershow craziness, or even, god forbid you little scamps, the prospect of going to the Aftershock Bar later to more-than-hopefully (with all fingers, toes and, ahem, everything crossed) catch a glimpse of a naked girl in the jacuzzi (not that you could see anything though, I did make it my duty to do a little research).

Second album from rising Michigan hardcore crew Chiodos begins as it means to go on, with the distinctly operatic 'Two Birds Stoned At Once.' Opening with a shiver-inducing Victorian-tinged violin, 'Two Birds Stoned At Once' recalls The Used's 'The Bird and The Worm,' both in terms of its operatic leanings and the Bert McCracken-like twinge to frontman Craig Owens' voice.
