Live Review: Kaya + Cactus
On first tonight were Saving Lenny. Whom I missed. Moving on... Cactus warmed the crowd with their own brand of rocking guitar based songs with the occasional metal influence, but not so much that it wasn't accessible, especially in this venue, which is more of a wine bar than a rock club.

"All the best female-fronted pop songs ever ('Atomic', 'Kids In America', anything involving Gwen Stefani), mashed up and sung out by an indie Alison Goldfrapp in a stripy prom dress. Better believe it, buddy" NME

Live Review: Duels + The Bazaars
Gigs at the Fav used to be a nightmare for me. I tended bar there while studying at University you see and while my peers pissed away heir upper class parents' money on ripped jeans and a serious of ludicrous haircuts I supplied the Fav's locals with booze to fund my own debauchery.

CD Review: The 42 Tones - Sloppiness Counts
Ska. There's something about Leeds and ska music. The 42 Tones sit nicely right in the middle of that genre, and from all accounts these are a very young seven-piece band doing quite well for themselves.

Live Review: Filthy Dukes + O. Children
First on to the Nation of Shopkeepers' low-slung stage are O. Children. The band start playing then enormous frontman Gauthier strolls on, his size equalled only by the depth of his voice - imagine if Barry White had been tutored by Ian Curtis while standing on his shoulders and you come somewhere close.
