A few nights ago I had the strangest dream. I had completed my pre-bed routine of putting my panda onesie on, pouring a cup of delicious cocoa and watching an episode of Glee (the one in series one when Kurt's father has trouble coming to terms with the fact his son is gay, so sad) when I decided to test the theory that cheese can give one extreme dreams or nightmares.

The evening kicked off with new lads BAZOOKA JOE. I am told that this was their first show. They definitely deserve credit for their performance, they put on an excellent show with some pretty damn good pop/ punk tunes which got the kids pretty warmed up -like they needed it - I think it was the sweatiest show I have been to all year.) Plenty of people were up dancing especially for the outstanding cover version of Celine Dione's "My heart will go on." Watch out for them in the near future.

Jamie Lidell is an absolute nutter. Appearing as a diamond geezer dressed in silken bathrobe with gold rope strung loosely, provocatively, around his torso, he headbangs and face-pulls like a schizo on strychnine whilst a masked figure with white wires and whiskers coming out its face lurks about setting up cameras and sending disturbingly delayed footage to the screen at the back before propping up a mannequin's dismembered hand (which is, nicely, impaled on a metal pole, just in case you weren't freaked enough) in front of Lidell's mad-scientist decks; then leaves it to turn, slowly, in a revolving, demented circle.

Band Profile: Redwire
2012 has been hectic for redwire! This young 5-piece from Bradford emerged from their studio at the start of the year with an infectious, high-energy, classic indie-rock set which has seen them gain followers and plaudits wherever they have performed.<br /><br />Their debut single was released in May through the independent label 'One Above Records' and received high praise from Supajam who observed; "redwire play a brand of scuzzy, bluesy rock which places them sonically somewhere between the Arctic Monkeys and The Enemy, only with the playfulness of the former and none of the boredom of the latter."<br /><br />A 15 date UK tour saw them perform alongside King Charles, Bastille, We Are Augustine's, The Vaseline's and History of Apple Pie. They were also busy on the festival circuit with slots at Long Division, Live At Leeds, X&Y and Crooked Ways where Lyric Lounge Review boldly declared; "redwire have knocked away all pretenders to the indie throne and filled a void we were beginning to think was permanent."<br /><br />redwire's music is in high demand off stage with syncs on the highly acclaimed BBC series Being Human and a screenplay written and directed by Irvine Welsh. The band recently finished filming scenes for 'Switch', the new drama on ITV2, in which two of their tracks also feature.<br /><br />The second single 'Playing With Fire' released on 29th October, accompanied by a 20 date UK tour includes supports to Reverend & The Makers and The Pigeon Detectives.<br /><br />With their eagerly anticipated EP expected in early 2013, redwire are definitely a band to catch up close and personal whilst you still have the chance!

I like to think of myself as a punctual individual - unlike my parents, they have turned being late into an art form - maybe I'm punctual because of them.

Band Profile: Mat Skinner
Born in the midst of industrial Stockport just before Maggie changed the heartbeat of a nation. His mum fondly remembers him jumping up and down to AC/DC on Top Of The Pops with a red plastic guitar proclaiming "I'm gonna be a rock star", while he remembers being taken on some aural journey when listening to Mozart and the voice of Joni Mitchell reminding him of his Mum's cooking.

CD Review: Chevron - Twisted And Fallen
Chevron's two-track CD release on the Valentine label is a chaotic splurge of grungy-school-kid rock with an unsteady blast of musical intelligence struggling to escape.

CD Review: The Somatics - Did You Ever Love Me?
A phone call from a middleman brought about a nocturnal meeting at The Somatics' Attic Studio on the high ground of west Leeds, where three levels of concrete stairway led to a warm welcome, and to brief but wide-ranging conversation (Gershwin, the Borderline, King Crimson, the Summer weather of 1928).
