CD Review: Full Scream Ahead - We Write Our Own Anthems
'We Write Our Own Anthems' does pretty much what it says on the tin, delivering six tracks of anthemic choruses and soaring vocals, with brief flirtations with screamo and punk to keep things interesting.

CD Review: Various Artists - Crash! Indie Anthems 1982-2004
1982-2004 22 years of indie? Did indie really begin in 1982? Who cares, don't let the title stand in the way of this rather good (but rather predictable) compilation.

Sub Focus takes us back to the 90's, with a classic house piano refrain that'll either have you grinning with nostalgia, or cringing as all the music you tried, but failed, to avoid, makes an unwelcome return.

Ourfamous Dead are a five-piece band that combine elements of punk, hardcore and electronica. 2011 saw the release of their debut EP I am Human. With this, their High-Octane music and performances have sparked the attention of the media across the UK, receiving features in magazines such as Rocksound, Big Cheese and Powerplay, they have also received radio play on national stations such as XFM. CD Review: Yes Boss - More Or Less / They Think It's All Over
After the unprecedented amount of useless, mindless, lager lout England World Cup anthems that have been hastily penned by cretins wanting the football loving nation to embrace (let's not get started on Embrace) their song and sing it from the terraces, it's refreshing to hear the remedy to this in the form of Yes Boss' incidental attack on football fever that is 'They Think It's All Over'.

CD Review: The Sunshine Underground - Nobody's Coming To Save You
It would be fair enough to expect something slightly special from this album. It's been about three and a half years since the Leeds based 4-piece released their fantastic debut 'Raise The Alarm,' and in "indie" terms, that's hardly prolific.

CD Review: Sound Of Guns - Architects
Sound Of Guns continue to carve a niche for themselves as pedallers of earnest, stadium-rock anthems with added personality, with their latest single, 'Architects.' 'Architects' is a towering roar of impassioned, mainstream-friendly rock where everything is pushed to extremes: the vocals are bigger, the guitars are louder and the drums go off like heavy artillery.

I get hayfever. Real bad, sometimes. But this particular strain of Pollen is infectious and debilitating in the best possible way - it will make you 1) sing (uncontrollably and loudly) and 2) stand there in shock unable to do a thing except sniff, your eyes watering, but for an entirely different reason to that large and inconsiderate yellow field a few streets away.

CD Review: Papa Roach - Naked and Fearless
Papa Roach continue their mission to distance themselves from their dodgy nu-metal past, with acoustic EP 'Naked And Fearless.' Firstly, I'm not entirely sure three tracks - one of which is an acoustic version of recently-released single 'Lifeline' - qualifies as an EP (surely, it's more of a long single?) and, secondly, once you take away the big, brash guitars, there's really not an awful lot left of Papa Roach.

CD Review: Arch Enemy - Khaos Legions
Arch Enemy have really raised their game on this release. Following some 4 years on from the release of 'Rise of the Tyrant', there was undoubtedly much pressure on the band to deliver the goods; it is, therefore, a huge relief to find out that Arch Enemy haven't toned down their approach, but instead have released an album which not only packs more punch than a heavyweight boxer, but retains the unmistakable sound that Arch Enemy have been perfecting for a decade and a half.

Live Review: The Young Knives
On the surface of things, The Young Knives do not come across as an instantly likeable band. Their whole geek-chic image, seemingly meaningless moniker and ludicrously named bass player (The House of Lords, those of you who were wondering) make it easy to mark them down as achingly hip, annoyingly pretentious passengers on the indie scenester bandwagon where being able to pout is much more important than being able to play.

How influential were Alice in Chains? Maybe not as influential as their nineties grunge peers Nirvana, maybe not as highly touted as their glum superstar friends Soundgarden, but if you step back and look at the crop of bands that are now doing a piss poor impression of one of the heavier, yet more diverse Seattle bands from the grunge explosion, you'll realise how that most of these bands (Godsmack to name the most blatant copyists, even taking their name from a song from "Dirt") were losing themselves in the misery that was one of the most critically acclaimed albums of the 90's, 1992's "Dirt", rather than jumping around and trying to craft three chords into sub-Nirvana anthems.
